A few weeks ago I made a poll on Facebook asking people what Alex and I should buy for the next R+C project car. The votes overwhelmingly asked for a microcar and I planned to buy one but then I found this! It’s a 1968 MG Midget and it looks great for the asking price!
It’s also genuinely tiny so maybe that counts as a microcar?
Is it a car you’d like to see on an episode of Reidus and Cletus or is it too close to the Datsun to merit buying?
I’ve always wanted a little Spridget and I’m having a look at it this Sunday.
PS. I’m not selling the Corvette

Me thinks this car needs a liter bike engine pronto

I like it!
Also, if there are 3 cars you need a third driver, right? xD

if you want HP then yea, liter bikes are the way to go.
you want a little more longevity, then you go to something shaft drive
so when are you buiying the bike

Will likely be a long time from now. Will buy, get running/driving on the original engine for a while before I cut it up.

Think of it from a RC perspective: Buying it and getting it on the road is one episode. Getting a moto engine into it is another episode. If we did it all at once we’d only have one episode.

I had a 69 Sprite while in high school. Make sure to make plans to play with it in the snow. Mine would do things that shocked me. You could drive across a snowy parking lot-cut the wheel + stuff it-do a complete 360 and end up back on a straight line. It actually was a fun snow car all around.

Fair enough
do a special episode with a bike strip down :)

Nice! Shit now I will have to finish my Sprite so I can drive it up and do a Spridget shoot out.

Even though it’s not a Fiat?

I may prefer 2-cylinder air-cooled FIATs the most (...and 2-cylinder air-cooled Citroens......and rear-engined Skodas...and other old Eastern Bloc cars...), but I generally like anything quirky, small and pure (i.e. I am not a fan of a lot of gadgets / frivolous stuff)....
The Spridget is a all three :P
Therefore, have at it friend! :D

Oh, and for future Cletus / Reidus-car reference,
Twin-Cam FIAT engines from the likes of the Spider can basically direct drop into old Ladas :P

It’s awfully close to being a Datsun ... so you’ll just have to make a British vs. Japanese episode then :)

A friend of mine has a 63 (I think? It’s early series 2) Sprite, and it is a wonderful car. I fully recommend it.
That said, for the show it may be a little close to Alex’s Datsun. If you want another car for you, I’d go for the Midget, but if it’s main purpose is to be part of the show, you might want to look for something different from Corvette / Datsun Roadster / Best Mustang (I haven’t forgotten)
